An Introduction to Mindfulness

Mindfulness helps us to see clearly what is going on in our lives. It can help us respond to our circumstances rather than react to them and find new ways of managing our life – the good bits and the not so good bits...

On this informal course you'll be introduced to some mindfulness strategies and approaches that you can easily incorporate into your daily life.  Meditation practices  will include a body scan, breathing meditation and kindness meditation will be an integral part of the course.

The main topics we'll cover:

  • What is Mindfulness
  • Operating on auto-pilot – there is an alternative
  • What we resist persists – how to work with unpleasant experiences
  • Thoughts – noticing and letting go
  • Seeking out the pleasure in everyday life
  • Kindness to self – the value of being kind to yourself

Chairs or meditation cushions will be provided.

Suitable for all.

How much does it cost and how long is it?

This course is free, donations would be gratefully received but are by no means obligatory.   

Alison's Biography

Alison is currently a student teacher with Breathworks – http://www.breathworks-mindfulness.org.uk.  Breathworks deliver a variety of mindfulness programmes to individuals and organisations including Mindfulness for Health and Mindfulness for Stress.

Alison is also an experienced Careers Adviser working with individuals who are considering career change, returning to the workplace or education and training. She works with individuals and groups and works in an impartial and person centred way.
