Living Zen - An Introduction
Join us on the beautiful island of Lefkada for these Living Zen Retreats. You may sign up for either one or both (the other retreat is Living Zen - A Daily Practice and is running the following week to this one).
The retreats aim to be informative, helpful and fun. (Yes, fun is part of the deal, though of course it can’t be guaranteed!).
We will look at:
- What is ‘Zen’ and how can I get my hands on it?
- How will it help me live more fully?
This retreat will have plenty of time for questions and answers and will introduce you to Zen meditation and we’ll explore Buddhist concepts about the meaning of life.
There will be time to chat with Ingen about particular topics you may have an interest in - either during our group sessions or on a one-to-one basis, maybe going for a walk or over a cup of coffee or lunch.
You may find it helpful to get a feel for Zen before coming on the retreat(s). To this end it could be helpful to read ‘Zen Mind, Beginner’s Mind’ or some general books on Buddhism beforehand, though it’s not essential that you do.
Each retreat will include a daily (and optional) exercise routine that will help awaken your body and support a meditation practice.
Topics that we will include in our discussions are:
- Suffering, Dissatisfaction and Nirvana
- The Buddhist ‘Wheel of Life’ and the ‘Reactive Mind’.
- Mindfulness and the Path to Liberation – the Creative Mind.
- Hindrances and Antidotes – gaining, and regaining, the Initiative.
- Applying the above to Relationships, Work and Life!
You don't have to be a Buddhist to come along, you don't need to take on any beliefs. You can just come and find out how well Buddhist practices will fit into your life to make it a more satisfying experience, overall. This week is purposely free-flowing so that there will be plenty of room for discussion and dialogue.
