The Course OutlineĀ
This week we learn about the Buddhist Meditation Practices of Loving Kindness and Mindfulness and how they can impact on our lives, our health, and the wellbeing of those around us.
Mindfulness is the Buddhist pathway to insight and wisdom, and with continued practice we become aware of the qualities of compassion, benevolence, goodwill and the active interest in the well being of others. Cultivating Loving Kindness always begins with the self; and so the practice of Loving Kindness is a form of self- healing and once we heal ourself we then in turn heal others. It is recommended by Buddhist teachers as an antidote to insomnia, anger, fear and other strong emotions. The settling of our emotional imbalance leads to a settling of the need to harbor hostility and ill will.
The aims of this course therefore are to develop techniques for self-healing through self-awareness. Participants will be taught how to look at their thoughts and feelings through Mindfulness and Loving Kindness techniques and so experience more balance and harmony in their daily lives.
During the week we will explore:
Meditation - what is it, how to do it, when to do it and why it is an important part of our daily schedule
Mindfulness - how this technique helps us to work with the busy mind in a kindly way
Loving Kindness - experience this simple and powerful meditation to enhance your ability to view yourself and the people in your life unconditionally.
Healing - what does this term really mean? Is it possible to self heal? When and how to invite others to walk with us on our healing journey.
