Mindful Ways of Writing

During the week we will share ideas around ‘ways of writing’; writing as a means of personal and spiritual development as well as how we can polish a piece of writing for submission for competitions or publication if we so wish. We’ll consider ways of harnessing the true voice that can be discovered in meditation and how we can listen more to our external environment to influence our writing too.
Topics up for exploration will be –
There will be plenty of opportunity for exploration and play, alone and in groups, whether your preference is for writing as process, product or a bit of both.
This course is open to anyone with an interest in where writing can take us and where we can take writing.

The course is over 4 mornings (of about 3 hours) and costs £110



Liz Kay

Liz Kay is a regular meditator and a huge participant and fan of Serenity Retreat. She is passionate about exploring the magic that occurs when mindfulness meets creativity, particularly through her own medium of writing. She wrote her first ‘grown up’ short story at Serenity Retreat in 2012 and since then her work has been published both in print and online. She recently came third in the Winchester Writers’ Festival Competition – Flash Fiction category and is currently working on her first novel.

Outside of writing she works as an Occupational Therapist and Counsellor for the NHS where she has accumulated many years’ experience working with individuals and groups. She is co-founder of ‘The Writing Kiln’, a project aiming to inspire writing potential across communities in Stoke-on-Trent.

Liz is thrilled to have the opportunity to share her passion and learning with Serenity Retreaters back in Nikiana in 2018.
